What is Cabin Fever?

 

 

Cabin fever is a psychological term for a claustrophobic reaction that takes place when a person or group isolated, in a solitary location, stuck indoor or in confined quarters for an extended period of time. Cabin fever describes the extreme restlessness a person feel in such a situation.

When experiencing cabin fever a person may tend to sleep, have a distrust to anyone they are with or have an urge to do go outside even in bad weather or bad condition. 

 

 

History of the concept

 

 

The concept of the term Cabin fever was firstly used as a theme in one of Charlie Chaplin's 1925 film 'The Gold Rush' and also in The Simpsons' episode - Mountain of Madness. 

 

 

How to deal with Cabin fever?

 

 

Set a routine -

Stick to your routine as much as you can this will help you to get a sense of safety and predictability, keep yourself engaged and help you to deal with the anxiety that you may have with your children.

 

Create zones in your home -

Creating zones will help you to set a particular mood mode of yourself for a particular time or place, like a place for your workstation, electronic zones for your devices, reading area and corner where you like to play games. You will be surprised this small thing will help you to reduce the feeling of cabin fever.

 

Contact with nature - 

Contact with plants, fresh air and birds' sound will act as a therapy to deal with cabin fever.
